The PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026 will take place in the offline format—in a new city
The main running event and one of the most anticipated races of the year for thousands of Ukrainian runners—the PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026—will take place on October 24–25 in Khmelnytskyi. Organized by Run Ukraine, the marathon is one of Ukraine’s largest running events, bringing together thousands of participants each year.
Due to the deteriorating security situation in the capital, the marathon’s venue has been changed. The frequency and duration of air raid alerts during the day have increased, and a ban on mass gatherings remains in effect in Kyiv. Under these conditions, holding the event in the capital makes it impossible to guarantee an appropriate level of safety for participants, volunteers, partners, and event organizers.
The Run Ukraine team has decided to hold the marathon in the offline format in another Ukrainian city so that the months of preparation by thousands of runners can culminate in the main event—the start and finish. On October 24–25, Khmelnytskyi will welcome participants of the PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026, who will be able to take the starting line and complete their chosen distance together.
“The Kyiv Marathon has been making history for 17 years now. During this time, it has grown from 500 participants to nearly 17,000, weathered a pandemic, a full-scale invasion, and the changes we’ve gone through together with the running community in recent years.
Today, the marathon is turning a new page in its history—for the first time, its offline start will take place in a different city. What’s important is that we’re preserving what matters most: the opportunity for thousands of people to take the starting line, achieve their goals, and run together,” comments Dmytro Chernitsky, founder of Run Ukraine and a veteran of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Khmelnytskyi will host the country’s premier marathon. The Run Ukraine team is grateful to the mayor and the Department of Youth and Sports of the Khmelnytskyi City Council for their openness, support, and willingness to help make the marathon happen and host such a large-scale event.
“Khmelnytskyi is creating conditions for the development of sports in line with the community’s strategy and supports sports organizations that deliver high-quality, large-scale events.
We are open to hosting major sporting events and are glad that the Kyiv Marathon is not being canceled but is being moved to Khmelnytskyi. Despite the circumstances, the sporting event will take place—and our city is ready to warmly welcome the running community,” the Khmelnytskyi City Council stated.
The PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026 will retain its full offline format and all key components: the opportunity to run together, all planned distances, the involvement of partners, volunteers, and the organizing team, as well as the event’s charitable purpose. Fifty percent of the registration fee will be donated to support the Special Operations Forces.
As part of the PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026, the Ukrainian Championships for the 42.195 km and 10 km distances will also take place in Khmelnytskyi.
The PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026 will be the culminating event of the Naftogaz Unbroken Running League 2026 organized by Run Ukraine.
Run Ukraine will contact all registered participants of the PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026 and offer available options for participating in the event.
On October 24–25, Khmelnytskyi will host thousands of runners who will take the starting line of the PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026. This time, it’s in a new city, but with the same goal: to run together and finish together.
