For three months, responsible businesses will be converting workouts into donations for good causes.
Run Ukraine, together with its partners, has launched “Bigozbir” an initiative aimed at meeting the needs of Ukrainian funds in an unusual way – through running.
You can join absolutely free of charge without making any financial contributions. All you need to do is register and start running, recording your runs on Strava. And the business partners of “Bigozbir” will turn your regular running workouts into donations for the chosen fund at a rate of 1 km = 10 UAH.
How does it work?
Each business partner of “Bigozbir” has chosen a charitable foundation to support and set a goal for each individual collection – 1,000,000 UAH.
Now it’s your turn – wherever you are! You can already join one of the initiatives – a kind of “team” whose members will regularly train and record their runs:
- Take the Next Step with UKRNAFTA, or 1,000,000 UAH for the rehabilitation and prosthetics of the military
- Donate kilometers for Superhumans, or 1,000,000 UAH for prosthetics for the military and civilians, with the support of PrivatBank
- With Butterflies in Your Heart, or 1,000,000 UAH for seriously ill children from Datagroup and Volia
Three more collections will be announced a little later.
How do I join?
- Choose the initiative you want to support;
- Register for free on the marathon website and in the Strava running app;
- From July 20, go for regular runs.
- For each tracked kilometer, the business will convert into 10 UAH into a donation.
- So, 100,000 kilometers from the team – and the collection is closed!
Doesn’t it seem like too much? Not at all! After all, it is not necessary to gain the largest mileage or run marathons. Invite a friend or girlfriend to the team – and run regularly, even a little. The collection will last for three whole months. A team of 1000 people who run at least 2 kilometers every day will easily reach the goal.
“Bigozbir is not only about financial support for important initiatives. Now, more than ever, unity and mutual support are important for Ukrainians. Our 2024 running season is held under the slogan “Together we are strong” – because it is when we are together, when we are united, that we find incredible sources of strength to do the impossible. And Running for Donations is another opportunity to feel the shoulder of a friend, find inner strength, and do something unreal but very important – together: businesses, runners, and those who need it,” says Viktoria Veremienko, Marketing and Communications Director at Run Ukraine.
Bigozbir will be officially completed on October 12–13 during the traditional Unbreakable Kyiv Marathon, which will be held for the fourteenth time this year.
