On 7 September, at a meeting of the Kyiv Defence Council, a decision was taken to temporarily ban mass events in Kyiv:
‘Due to the deteriorating security situation in the capital, all entertainment and sporting events in open spaces and in buildings without shelters will be temporarily banned.’
The Run Ukraine team continues to work on preparations for the event, but the safety of participants, the team, partners and volunteers remains our absolute priority.
The PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026, scheduled for 10–11 October, is currently subject to this ban.
There is still over a month to go before the start. During this time, the security situation may change, and the temporary ban may be lifted. Therefore, we are not halting our preparations; we are analysing the situation and preparing for various possible developments and scenarios for holding the event.
We have set 22 September — three weeks before the planned start — as the cut-off date for making a final decision. We will then announce which scenario we will proceed with.
We are currently considering three options for holding the PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026:
The event will take place on 10–11 October in the planned format, provided the temporary ban is lifted.
The event will take place later, at the end of October — this will allow more time for the security situation to stabilise and for preparations to be made.
The event will take place online on revised dates.

Russian aggression is once again forcing us to change our plans. It may affect the date, route or format of the event, but it cannot extinguish the light within us — the desire to run, to support one another and to continue living in our country.
The PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon 2026 is more than just a running event. It is a gathering of people who, despite everything, refuse to stop and continue to shine as brightly as they can.
