2. Race Objectives

«Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon 2021» (hereinafter – the Race) is held to popularize and promote mass running events in Ukraine, as well as:

  • to popularize and promote healthy lifestyle
  • to develop mass sports
  • to integrate Ukraine into the global marathon movement
  • to inform, nurture and motivate Ukrainian public, to facilitate achievement of personal and athletic goals, to stimulate growth of sports achievements among the country’s wide grass-root population.
3. Organizers, Patronage and Sponsors

NGO “Run Ukraine” serves as the Race Organizer.

Under the auspices of:

  •  Kyiv Athletics Federation
  •  Department on youth and sports of the executive body of Kyiv City Council (KCSA)

The Organizer establishes an Organizing Committee from among its own staff, as well as engages sport-specific specialist from various sports.

 

The Organizing Committee consists of:

  • Race Director, Chernitskyi D.L.;
  • Project Manager, Tretiakov I.O.;
  • Director of the Department of youth and sports of the executive body of Kyiv City Council (KCSA), Khan Yu.M.;
  • President of Kyiv Athletics Federation Hriniuk V.R.;
  • Head Referee of the Race – Pavlos R.M.;
  • Medical Director of the Race – Permiakov P.V.
  • Athletes Manager – Lishchynska I.A.
4. Conditions of the Race

The Race is launched during quarantine restrictions implemented by the Government of Ukraine.

The Organizers are considering 3 possible formats of the Race:

  • Standard Race (meets the requirements of “green quarantine zone”)
  • Race in a park zone or a smaller route (meets the requirements of “yellow quarantine zone”)
  • Race in online format

Certain paragraphs in this Regulations contain provisions in case of various formats.

 

Main differences:

  • There is no prize fund in case of the “yellow quarantine zone” scenario or in case of online format.
  • In case of online format, the start packages are mailed to the participants with the use of a postal company.
  • In case of the “yellow quarantine zone” scenario the Race would be taking place in a park zone with the routes mapped in several laps. The Race would have several waves of 200 participants each. The time of the Race would be prolonged until 07:00 p.m.
  • Children’s races may be cancelled in case of the “yellow quarantine zone scenario”.
  • In case of the “yellow quarantine zone” scenario there may be some restrictions for audience participation
5. The Race Program

Distribution of the start packages to the participants will be held at the fall SportFestUA 2021 on October 22-23, 2021.

You need to compe to 15 Volodymyrska str. At least 1 hour before your race to have enough time to change, leave your belongings in the storage room, find your starting block and warm up.

6. Race Entry Conditions

Participants enter the Race upon presenting the required documents at the time of receiving their star packages:

  • Starter’s letter printed out and signed by the participant (the starter’s letter can be found in the personal profile or in the e-mail box after a successful payment);
  • ID certifying the age of the participant (mandatory for all participants);
  • Document certifying the right for free participation in the Race or for a discount payment of entry fees.

 

Participants aged 13 (for the courses of 4.2 km and 5 km) and participants aged 15 ( for the course of 10 km) must also have the Parental (legal representative) consent to participation of a minor in the race on the courses of 4.2 km, 5 km, 10 km or relay (Annex 2 or Annex 3 respectively).

 

All registered participants bear sole responsibility for their lives and health regarding the competition, and sign appropriate statements.

 

Please, notice!

  • Race bib number and start package are not given to a participant if a participant fails to provide ID;
  • Only participants aged 18 or older are admitted to the courses of 42.195 km and 21.0975 km. The age of a participant is determined according  to Run Ukraine Rules and Regulations.

 

Online participation is an option for any Race scenario. To participate online, a participant needs to purchase a Certificate covering postal expenses for the start package to be mailed to the participant, and then the participant needs to run the distance on the day of the race. The result should be mailed to [email protected]. The result testifies to the completion of the race but is not included in the finish protocol.

7. Emergency situations during the Race

TO THE ATTENTION OF ALL RACE PARTICIPANTS!

In the event State Emergency Service issues a warning of possible significant deterioration of weather conditions in the region on the eve of or on the day of the Race or there is a threat to human life and health due to severe weather phenomena (including but not limited to earthquake, flood, hurricane, hail, cyclone, storm, lightning, other natural disasters), the Race Organizer reserves the right to take measures to ensure the safety of participants, audience, fans and all those who directly or indirectly participate in the Race.

The Race Organizing Committee has developed an internal safety scale, according to which in case of severe weather phenomena, the Organizing Committee will act in accordance with the plan and require all participants to strictly comply with its requirements, namely:

1st level of danger – wind with a force of 7-9 meters per second – dismantling of inflatable arches, light structures (including mileage indicators), light awnings, promotional and photo zones.

2nd level of danger – wind with a force of 9.5-10 meters per second – dismantling of all awnings, photo zones, as well as dismantling of the crossbar of the start-finish arch.

The project manager will ask you to remove anything that may be dangerous. 

High probability of cancellation of children’s races. The decision to hold or cancel them will be made immediately before the start of the children’s races based on the actual weather conditions at that time.

3rd level of danger – wind with a force of 11 meters per second and more – a collegial decision to hold or cancel the Race will be made.

The committee in charge of making this decision consists of: Dmytro Chernitskyi, Director of the NGO “Run Ukraine”, Ivan Tretiakov, Project Manager, a representative of the SES in the region, a representative of the title sponsor of the Race (or another official of the title sponsor of the Race).

8. Courses and Routes

The route of the courses 42.195 km and 42.195 km (relay) is mapped around Kyiv.

Track cover 97% – blacktop, 3% – pavement.

Total elevation gain – 669 meters.

The start and finish lines of all courses are located in the same spot.

9. Registration for the Race

Participants are allowed to enter the Race provided proper and timely registration for the Race.

Registration is available on-line on the Organizer’s website http://kyivmarathon.org/ 

 

Participants who transferred their registrations from 2020 need to go through the registration procedure and familiarize themselves with Run Ukraine Rules and Regulations by March 1, 2021.

 

Online registration of participants is open from December 15, 2020 through October 23, 2021 (in case of available slots).

There will be no registration on the day of the Race, on October 24, 2021.

The Race Organizer has the right to suspend or completely close the registration without any prior notification in case of reaching an established limit of participants.

A participant is considered registered if an application is filled out and entry fee is paid.

 

The registration is considered cancelled in case submitted data is inaccurate and/or false. In case of registration cancellation entry fee is not refunded.

Paid registration can not be cancelled, entry fees are non-refundable.

 

A participant can request a start package to be mailed to them one week prior to the Race using Nova Poshta services. This is a paid service. A participant should purchase a certificate covering postal charges. This can permit online participation when a participant runs the same distance on the same day but in a different location.

10. The starter’s package may be given to the third person upon presenting the following documents:
  1. The document certifying the identity of a person receiving the starter’s package (passport, driver’s license etc)
  2. Copy of documents certifying the identity of a person that purchased registration.
  3. Starter’s letter signed by the person that purchased registration.
  4. Statement signed by the person that purchased registration with the following text:

I, (full name of the person that purchased registration), ask you to give the starter’s package with the number (participant’s race number) to my representative (full name of the person receiving the starter’s package), due to the fact that I am unable to receive it in person.

Please, notice! Paragraph 10 does not apply to the participants of any relay or team races, namely 3х5+1х6.0975 km, 4х21.0975 km, 2х21.0975 km, 4х10 km.

It means that every participant of a relay or a team race must personally pick up his/her start package upon presenting an ID on the day of distribution of start packages at SportExpoUA2021.

Entry fee for the course of 42.195 km at stage 1 – 341 slots: 950 UAH for members of NGO and the basic registration fee is 1180 UAH;

Entry fee for the course of 42.195 km at stage 2 – 1109 slots: 1040 UAH for members of NGO and the basic registration fee is 1330 UAH;

Entry fee for the course of 42.195 km at stage 3 – 256 slots: 1140 UAH for members of NGO and the basic registration fee is 1430 UAH

 

Entry fee for the course of 21.0975 km at stage 1 – 679 slots: 750 UAH for members of NGO and the basic registration fee is 925 UAH;

Veteran’s Ten. Participation is free of charge. Limit of participants – 300 participants. Registration opens on September 23, 2021.

 

In case the Race needs to take place in the online format, every participant who has paid registration fee would receive a refund of 150 UAH transferred to a cashback account.

The cost of participation does not change if the Race is held in the standard format or on a smaller route.

Money transfer commission is not included in the entry fee amount stated above.

Entry fee payment is to be made online using the Organizer’s website www.runukraine.org.

Participants are to pick up start packages in person upon presenting the starting letter and ID.

Participants that failed to join the Race can obtain their start packages within 30 days after the competition at the Organizer’s office, having preliminary sent notification about their intention to do so by e-mail: [email protected]. They also can place a request to have it delivered to a specified address.

Delivery of starter’s packages is done at the expense of the participant. If possible, the Organizer arranges for partners to provide free delivery.

13. Team competitions (teams and relay) of athletes

Mixed teams from commercial and non-profit organizations consisting of 4 or 2 persons are permitted to participate in the relay. The team consisting of a different number of people will be automatically disqualified.

If the organization can not find 4 (2) members from within the organization, it can invite volunteers.

All four team members must participate in the relay race.

The team is considered registered if its representative filled out the application, registration form and paid the entry fee for the team.

Each participant is assigned a particular relay stage upon registration. The order of participants can be changed through October 23, 2021 on the website runukraine.org in the participant’s personal  profile.

To participants’ attention:

  • During the relay race the procedure of the baton transfer must take place in the relay transfer zone.
  • Each team gets ONE result capturing electronic chip
  • The chip is attached to the leg and is transferred at the relay transfer stations.
  • The first participant starts the race with the chip attached to his/her leg
  • Team members may not exchange numbers (especially relay participants)
  • Finisher’s medals for all stages are awarded in case of crossing of the finish line
  • Finisher’s packages (a banana, an apple) are given to the participant upon completion of his/her stage of the race

Infringement of any of the above rules will result in disqualification of the entire team.

The result in the relay is considered to be the result at the finish of the last participant at the fourth stage of the relay.

The result of the team scoring is the sum of the official results of all four team members.

Payment for participation in the corporate relay is performed by bank transfer on the basis of invoice issued by the Organizers. Documents confirming the payment should be sent to the email [email protected] no later than 10 days prior to the event. All questions in regard to organization of corporate relay are to be sent to the email address [email protected].

14. For corporate teams:

There are several participation options for companies:

  • Team participation (any course and any number of participants);
  • Business Cup (relay 3×10 km+1×12.195 km)
  • Security Cup (relay for people from the field of civil security)

 

Business Cup:

Mixed teams from commercial and non-profit organizations are permitted to participate in the relay. 

An organization may form one or more teams for a corporate relay. Number of teams from one organization is unlimited.

The Business Cup winners will be awarded in the specified business segments with a separate ranking on the event website. Company’s name is placed on the Business Cup participants’ bib numbers.

Please, notice!

  • There will be no awarding for the teams that ranked 1, 2 and 3 places in the Business Cup.
  • Business Cup teams will also take part in the overall ranking of relay teams.
  • If a segment consists of up to 5 teams, there will be no awarding in the segment, the teams will take part only in the overall scoring.

 

Security Cup – 4.2 km:

Mixed teams from commercial and non-profit organizations are permitted to participate in the relay (field of business – civil security). 

  • Participation is free
  • Maximum number of participants in one team – 4 persons
  • Maximum number of participants from one non-profit organization – 3 teams
  • Overall number of participants is 48 people (12 teams)

 

According to the results, we will determine the winners of the Security Cup and there will be an award ceremony for men and women taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in this category.

15. Food and Hydration Stations

Food stations and hydration stations are located at 5; 10; 15; 21; 25; 27.5; 32.5; 35; 37.5; 40 km and at the finish line. They have water, medical care, food, toilets and volunteer assistance available.

16. Award ceremony

42.195 km course:

On the course of 42.195 km, awards are given to men and women winning places 1 through 5 in the absolute championship.

The official time used for calculation of the overall ranking of men and women is the time since the starting gun shot (Gun Time).

Course record (overall ranking): 1000 USD (according to the NBU exchange rate on the day of the Race) for each category (men and women). Men course record: 2:28:57, Women course record: 2:51:38.

The prize for the course record will be awarded only if the Race takes place on the certified course in the “green quarantine zone”.

 

On the 42.195 km course winners are awarded in age groups, places 1 through 3:

Men: 18-22, 23-29, 30-39, 40-49 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older

Women: 18-22, 23-29, 30-39, 40-49 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older

 

The age of a participant is determined as of December 31 of the current year. Those awarded in absolute championship are not awarded in age groups. The places in age categories are assigned according to Net Time.

Winners and medalists receive monetary rewards and memorable prizes.

  •     winners in the absolute championship on the course of 42.195 km places 1 through 5 men and women are not awarded in age groups.
  •     participants participating in wheelchairs or those using any other type of mechanism when overcoming the course, are not awarded in absolute championship or in age groups on any course.

 

21.0975 km course:

On the course of 21.0975 km, awards are given to men and women winning places 1 through 8 in the absolute championship.

 

Participants on the 21 km course will be starting in blocks with the interval of 5 minutes with a separate start and starting gun shot according to Race schedule and will be included in the overall ranking among men and women.

 

Winners and medalists receive monetary rewards and memorable prizes.

 

Relay 3×10+1×12.195 km:

On theRelay 3×10+1×12.195 km course awards are given to the teams taking places 1 through 3.

Awarded only in case the race takes place in the “green quarantine zone” on the course that has been certified by AIMS.

 

4,000 UAH – to the team taking the 1st place

2,000 UAH – to the team taking the 2nd place

1,000 UAH – to the team taking the 3rd place

 

Please, notice! The winning team must come to the Referee Tent upon finishing the course to present identification documents to confirm stated make-up of the team.

On the course Team 4×21.0975 km awards are given to those taking places 1 through 3.

On the course Team 2×21.0975 km awards are given to those taking places 1 through 3.

«City cup»

The cup is awarded to the participants demonstrating the best time on the course of 42.195 km among athletes who stated “Kyiv” as their city of residence. Men and women are awarded separately.
